Midnight in Paris

Great editing, interesting camera angles, PERFECT period costumes and zomg so many literary and art heroes in one film?! I’m hooked. But Gill Menders’ dialogue is extremely similar to the protagonist in Annie Hall. I have to watch more of Woody Allen’s films to confirm the rumour I’ve heard that his protagonists are usually the brilliant oddball that likes to speak in a free, disconnected style. Also, he likes blond women. Look at the casts. Beautiful, beautiful blond women. But the male casts are equally goodlooking as well. Adrian Brody as Salvador Dali?! Corey Stoll as Hemingway? (He really looks so good with hair lol) And GERTRUDE STEIN!!! They managed to find someone who looks like her!

Adriana and Ernest Hemingway.

The eccentric Salvador Dali played by Adrian Brody

Sidetrack a little on the wardrobe for the characters played in Present Times. It’s so beautiful. Particularly drawn to what the ladies are wearing. But as usual, the protagonist seem to wear exactly the same tweed blazer Woody wore when he was in Annie Hall as well. Curious. He seems to like to put a little of himself in all of his films. Again, I have to go back and watch more of his works before confirming this observation.

Le sigh, Paris is so beautiful. Gonna make a trip there one day to see for myself.
